For those who like to get crafty – why not make a height chart?
And for those who like to dress up – we have a simple guide to making a Sunflower head-dress and leafy neck collar. These could be incorporated into a drama or dance morning, with the children pretending to grow from seeds into beautiful sunflowers.
Height chart
How tall are you?
Are you as tall as your sunflower?
How to make – a sunflower height chart
You will need:
A copy of the height chart templates 1 and 2
White paper
Colouring crayons or paints
Sticky tape
Instructions
1. Photocopy the sunflower stalk template ten times
2. Stick all the photocopies together, end to end, making sure all the stalks join up
3. Stick the sunflower head at the top and colour in the chart so that it looks nice and bright
4. Each mark along the side is 1cm. Count the marks and write on the measures at 20cm intervals
5. Stick your measuring chart to a wall or door and measure yourself against it
6. Measure your sunflower seedling against your height chart – when will grow taller than you?
7. Ask your friends and family to sponsor you for every centimeter that your sunflower grows!
NB. Once you have made your nursery height chart – why not use our height markers to record all the children’s height?
